SPS (formerly SPSS Italia) has been operating for over twenty years as an Italian centre of expertise in statistical data analysis.

In 1994, SPSS Italia S.r.l. was founded, a distributor authorised by SPSS Inc. for the exclusive sale of the SPSS product suite in Italy.

In 2009, SPSS Inc. was acquired by IBM and SPSS Italia S.r.l. became an IBM Advanced Business Partner.

On 21 January 2014, the company changed its name to SPS S.r.l.

In 2015 SPS became an IBM Premier Business Partner

In 2017 SPS became, and still is, an IBM Gold Business Partner, also obtaining the Expert level certificate in Data Science & Business Analytics (Certifications).
